Local Anesthesia: The Numbing Nibbler
This is our go-to for focused comfort! Local anesthesia uses a topical gel or an injectable solution to gently numb a specific area, preventing any pain during the treatment. The "sleepy" feeling is confined to the treated spot and typically lasts just a few hours after the procedure is finished. 2
Nitrous Oxide: The Giggle Gas
Commonly known as "laughing gas," this is inhaled through a comfy little mask during the treatment. Nitrous oxide works super fast to help your child feel relaxed, calm, and maybe even a bit giggly! Best of all, the soothing, calming effects disappear almost immediately after we stop the gas, meaning your child is alert and ready to go home right away.
IV Sedation: The Sleepy Solution
Also referred to as general anesthesia, IV sedation uses specialized medications to help patients gently sleep through their dental treatment. This is always administered under the careful, constant supervision of a professional anesthesiologist. We usually reserve this for our most complex or invasive procedures to ensure maximum comfort and safety.
